Teller Rifles, Victor/Cripple Creek American Legion, Florissant VFW, Community Impact team, and Woodland Park American Legion have worked in cooperation with the Teller County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) and Cripple Creek police department (CCPD) to organize safety briefings regarding our communities and county. As we are all aware crime, civil disorder, homelessness, drugs, and illegal immigration have raised the potential threat level our country faces and our communities are not exempt. Consequently, we are organizing community meetings with two specific purposes. First, to provide citizens with information related to crime and disorder and second, to put out a call for action to address current and emerging issues. This effort follows on the heels of our attempt to organize Citizens Alliance for Public Safety (CAPS) which is an effort to create citizen support for our local law-enforcement. These community meetings will involve presentations by TCSO and CCPD. A call for action will involve solicitation of solutions one of which is the formation of a Community Impact Group which will act to establish policies, methods, and communication links between all stakeholders concerned with community safety. Our first meetings are 1 March in Victor, 2 March in cripple Creek, and 8 March in Divide. While these meetings will feature presentations by TCSO and local LEO, they will include a question-and-answer period. These meetings are not limited to Teller Rifle members but are open to the general public. Please RSVP to enable us to provide ample seating.
