Learn how to confidently meet any future power grid challenges at a new family event: SURVIVAL COOKING 101, sponsored by 315 Survival (survival gear shop in Woodland Park, CO), Teller Rifles, and the NE Teller County Fire Department in Woodland Park, CO. Survival Cooking 101 - Course Description


Date: Saturday, September 10, 2022 

Time: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Location: 1010 Evergreen Heights Drive, Woodland Park, CO 80863 (NE Teller County Fire Department)

Cost: Adults and Teens - $35;  Children (12 and under) - $25

Instructor: Eric Walker, owner of 315 Survival (a gear shop in Woodland Park, CO) and former U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division Mountaineering and Survival expert.

Participants will learn the basics of fire building, water procurement, and field cooking methods. The class will be held at the fire station located at 1010 Evergreen Heights Dr, Woodland Park, CO 80863.

The course will be conducted in three phases:

Phase I: Classroom Instruction

Phase II: Demonstration and Practical Exercise

Phase III: Meal prep, outdoor feast, social time and Q & A

Meals: All meals will be provided and include homemade bread/cakes, dehydrated shelf-stable items, and more. Gluten-free and Vegan items will be available.

Class size limit: 36    Cost: Adults & Teens - $35. Children (12 and under) - $25.

Participants will learn 10+ methods for cooking without electricity, propane, butane or natural gas.  All attendees will construct an operational cooking device; learn how to build a safe and effective open fire; and cook food on a utility-free cooking device.

Class participants will be grouped into teams of four to build a cooking device, start a safe open fire and cook food that the entire class will eat at the final phase of the course.

If you have any fire-building items or stoves, you are welcome to bring them.
