Update on the CCW Class! CCW Class A Big "Hit" Saturday in Victor! Saturday, in Victor, Colorado, twelve citizens hit their target goal to become certified to Carry A Concealed Weapon (CCW). Two expert marksmen lead the class: Bob Tyler and Randy Ford. The event was sponsored by Teller Rifles, Cripple Creek Parks & Rec and the Victor Elks Lodge. Safety was the theme of the day with emphasis placed on using a firearm for self-defense as a tool of LAST RESORT. According to instructors Bob and Randy, "The best way to win an argument is to avoid it in the first place." On the other hand, if an assailant is posing threat of immediate danger or bodily harm, the instructors advised us "do not submit!" The class included information such as: The Golden Rules for Gun Safety Protecting Sight and Sound (when firing) Types of Firearms Parts of a Handgun Criteria for Selection of a Handgun Ammunition Facts Shooting Fundamentals - Positions, Grip, Aiming, Sight Alignment, Breath Control, Hold Control, Trigger Control, Follow-Through and Firing the Shot The main message of the day was (and always will be) SAFETY FIRST: Always keep a gun pointed in a safe direction. Always keep the action open. Always keep your finger off the trigger. If you have not taken this course, Teller Rifles highly recommends it. TR will post the next CCW course when dates and times are confirmed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12 seems to be a lucky number at the Victor Elks. On Friday night there were twelve us who showed up to shoot. The good news is there were six at the Elks for the first time and a couple who were there to shoot for their very first time! The number twelve came up again on Saturday morning as Teller Rifles, in conjunction with Cripple Creek Parks and Rec., conducted a Concealed Carry class at the Elks that had twelve registered. Not only were twelve registered but all passed and got their Concealed Carry Course certificates. The number twelve came up again as that was the exact number of Gold Camp Bakery cookies eaten on Friday night.
